The city of Lake Oswego is working hard promote sustainability. Let’s do our part to care for our lovely and amazing planet! As a side benefit, sustainable living is often better for the budget; I learned from my parents and grandparents to use old clothes and towels for rags instead of buying them (after cutting off the buttons and snaps to be re-used!), to re-use wrapping paper and ribbon and to keep things like yogurt and salsa containers for storing leftovers. Some call me cheap but I call me earth-friendly! The city is hosting a sustainable resource fair Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 11-2. Check it out and find ways to help the planet, get some free equipment and get to know some of your neighbors! Check out the link on the city’s website:
We had a wonderful time visiting with all the residents who were able to attend the TTA Potluck in September! We received a lot of positive feedback about switching to snacks/finger foods. If did not attend as you were concerned about not having a place to sit, we provided several chairs and are ALWAYS happy to help provide more seating if we know in advance. We are considering hosting a Spring Potluck so stay tuned for a save the date in the new year! And please let the board know if you would like to help out.
Winter Reminder/Road Conditions:
With Winter approaching and the season forecasted to be snowier than normal, we wanted to send you all a quick reminder that both Bloch Terrace and Britten Court (starting at 4 Britten) are privately owned by our HOA. This means that the City of Lake Oswego will not snowplow, de-ice, or pebble/sand the roads. In addition, as discussed at the last Annual Meeting in May, the Community decided not to allocate any dues towards snow removal. With that said, for the winter season, please be prepared (with emergency supplies such as flashlights, extra food, etc) in case we are snowed in, as it could be a few days for the roads to thaw/melt.
2025 Board Positions Available:
This coming year, we have two Board positions whose terms will be ending in May 2025: Maintenance (Janet) and Landscaping (Cindy). At this time, Janet has already confirmed that she is not intending to run again. While Cindy has not confirmed either way, we would love to have more volunteers for the HOA Board! I have attached the Packet that describes the positions and their responsibilities. If you are interested in either position, please feel free to email Janet or Cindy with specific questions! Their emails are in the CC line of this email.
In addition to the two Board positions, we are looking for someone who can help assist Landscaping with one of the larger projects of the year – Tree Trimming Coordination. You would not be required to attend Board meetings as you would not be considered a member of the Board, you would just work alongside Landscaping on some of the communication and community walkthroughs with the companies we are looking at hiring. Please feel free to respond to this email if you are interested.”
Pam Berg has submitted a post to help us all be better prepared in case of emergency. Take it away, Pam:
“Thankfully we’ve had some really cool summer weather of late and it’s easy to forget what happened in January during the ice storm. Mt. Park Community Center was closed for months due to damage. The Playschool will finally reopen their regular hours September 3. Disasters happen. When they do, it is normal everyday people who are the heroes. Al Belais suggested this article and it’s right on how neighbors are your lifeline: https://wapo.st/3yJpiNc. Cindy and I attended a class recently on hosting a State roll out plan for EP called Be2WeeksReady. https://www.oregon.gov/oem/hazardsprep/pages/2-weeks-ready.aspx We are planning to present the info locally to small groups within our community as soon as we receive the participant books. In the meantime, there are two important dates coming up. Jan Castle from PrepLO is again presenting at the MT. Park HOA Board meeting at6:30 p.m Wednesday Sept 4 on the subject of Emergency Preparedness. (In January she and several others made the same presentation just 10 days before our ice storm after which all bets were off for making any plans for clubhouse use due to all the damage.) Lake Oswego Emergency Fair 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday Sept 5 at City Hall. All sorts of free stuff and advice to help you start an Emergency stash or add to what you already have.” https://www.ci.oswego.or.us/citymanager/emergency-preparedness-fair
